About Bubble Junk

A lifetime's supressed obsession set free for your benefit!

As a young mother of two small girls I first started playing about with making handmade soap in 2009. This was alongside many other crafts such as crochet and knitting, modular origami, baking...the list goes on...but for me the chemistry and the process involved in soap making drew me in.

A childhood obsession to small business...

When I was a child I used to obsessively collect. I collected stamps, trinkets and even pretty paper bags. One birthday I was given £20.00 (quite a lot of money back then!) by friends and family. I knew that there was a shop nearby that sold cool looking and amazing smelling soaps and they packaged them in pretty paper bags. Result! I spent the next few weeks travelling every few days to the shop, spending an age smelling each one and finally deciding on which soap I would buy that day. I never used the soap, just built the collection in the drawer next to my bed and saved all the pretty bags to go back to to smell and look at and put back for next time. Strange, maybe, but comforting. This was a memory and obsession long forgotten until one day I smelt a fragrance that bought it all flooding back.

Olfactory memories

The birth of Bubble Junk!

2014 saw the birth of my third daughter and shortly after that the birth of BubbleJunk. Soaping and creating is my therapy and God only knows, with 3 young children, a mum needs some of that. The perfectionist in me spent a long time experimenting and developing the perfect recipes for each and every product, so that the scientist in me was satisfied that my formulations were as pure, gentle and nourishing as the creator in me said they should be. Sometimes the obsessive personality pays off!

For me, soap isn't just a hobby or a job, it is a lifestyle.
